Hurricane Laura made landfall with 150 mph winds and nearly 9 feet of storm surges. Topping out at a Category 4, Laura tied the 1856 Last Island hurricane as the strongest hurricane ever recorded in the U.S state of Louisiana. Allstar wants to help you get your home back by providing our experienced hurricane and storm damage repair services. A damaged chimney or fireplace can be very dangerous to your home, especially when they go unnoticed for long periods of time. Just last year we serviced numerous homes down in Panama City, after Hurricane Michael, in need of chimney repairs, water leaks, and more. With nearly 30 years of experience, Allstar Chimney Sweeps is equipped and ready to perform all storm damage repairs from the top of your chimney to the bottom.
Water damage is the most common issue we find when performing inspections and sweeping chimneys. Water damage can happen in many ways and can cost you lots of money in repairs down the road. A major chimney water leak can also cause drafting and smoke issues in a masonry fireplace. These issues show up as large amounts of water settle and get absorbed by the bricks. From there, the saturated bricks begin to cool down the air inside the chimney as it rises. As the air in the top of your chimney cools, it pushes the warmer air back down which can cause smoke to be pushed out of the firebox and into your home. At Allstar, we, along with the CSIA, recommend an annual chimney and fireplace inspection to catch any water/storm damages from getting worse. Getting an annual inspection not only gets your repairs done before serious damages but also gives you the comfort of a fully functional and safe fireplace experience for your family to enjoy. Here are a few water damage signs to look out for when using your fireplace:
If you find any of these signs when using your fireplace/chimney system, give Allstar a call at 337-284-3152
